The biggest problem with shopping for clothes online: you can't tell what anything is actually made of. Fabric composition is buried in tiny text at the bottom of product pages. You'd have to click into every item and scroll past photos, sizing, and reviews just to find out if that dress is cotton or polyester.

Nobody does that. So you end up buying clothes that feel cheap, trap heat, and fall apart after a few washes — because you didn't know they were 94% polyester until the tag was already cut.

Fibr: See Fabric Composition While You Browse

Fibr is a free Chrome extension that solves this problem in the simplest way possible: it shows fabric composition right on the product image, with a colour-coded badge, while you browse.

No clicking into products. No scrolling. No guessing. Every item on the page gets a badge telling you what it's made of.

How It Works

  1. Install Fibr from the Chrome Web Store. One click, no signup, no permissions you'd worry about.
  2. Browse normally. Shop Zara, H&M, Mango, or any supported retailer like you always would.
  3. See the badges. Every product image gets a small badge in the corner showing the dominant fabric and a colour indicator.

The Badge System

  • Green badge — 100% natural fibres (cotton, linen, silk, wool). The good stuff.
  • Yellow badge — Mixed composition. Some natural, some synthetic. Your call.
  • Red badge — Mostly synthetic (polyester, nylon, acrylic). Plastic-based fabric.

You can scan an entire product grid in seconds and immediately know which items are natural fibre and which are polyester-heavy. What used to take 30 minutes of clicking now takes 30 seconds of glancing.

Supported Retailers

Fibr currently works on:

  • Zara
  • H&M
  • Mango
  • Bershka
  • Pull&Bear
  • Stradivarius
  • ASOS
  • Reformation
  • Abercrombie & Fitch
  • Urban Outfitters
  • House of CB
  • Aritzia
  • Free People
  • Uniqlo

More retailers are being added regularly. If there's a site you want supported, you can request it directly through the extension.

Why This Matters

Fabric composition determines:

  • How clothes feel — natural fibres are softer, more breathable, more comfortable
  • How long they last — quality fabrics resist pilling and maintain shape
  • How they smell — polyester breeds bacteria 5x faster than cotton
  • Your skin health — synthetics trap heat and can cause irritation, rashes, and eczema flares

Knowing what clothes are made of isn't a nice-to-have. It's the single most useful piece of information for making good purchasing decisions — and brands deliberately make it hard to find.
